Green algae - dies within minutes of treatment. 

 

Red algae - It is actually a green algae. The red metabolites wash away readily and disperses within a few days.

 

Filimentous Fungi - Characteristic black inverted cones under copping stone, or thinly spread over flat surfaces. First the hypae is killed with a dose of buicide. The black washes away when brushed. The foam takes on the colour. Brush until the mass of the black metabolite has been reduced.
